Who do YOU Think You Are?
Society defines you all as "Young Adults." Is that true? Are you really almost an adult, or are you closer to being a "youngster?" Define what you think it means to be a "mature adult" and discuss how close, or far, you are from reaching that stage of life.
Who am I? I do think that I am a young adult I am still in high school I’m not paying bills, but I am 18 so I am considered an adult. I do not consider myself as a youngster. When I think of youngster I think of elementary age where they are still learning everyday skills until a young adult. Young adults are learning how to pay bills get good jobs. To me a mature adult is when the person starts to realize what is important in life and know how to handle different situations. I do not think I am quite to this stage yet there are still things I have to learn how to do and handle.

Yes, I would define myself as a young adult, but only because of my age and what society classifies a person as an “adult”. Other than my age, I would have to say that I am nothing close to being an adult. In my opinion, I am closer to being a “youngster” than an adult. To me, being an adult is working all day everyday and earning a living to support your family. Along with owning a house, having a mortgage, and paying off your car loans. I do none of those things yet and don’t have to bring home a check every week to support my family. As of right now, all of those things are currently being taken care of for me, by adults. I believe until I am living on my own, paying off my loans, and maybe even supporting a family, I should not be considered an adult quite yet.
ReplyDeleteBeing an adult includes taking responsibility for yourself and having the ability to support yourself and others if need be. In my opinion, after reaching this age I believe that I’m closer to being a mature adult than most people my age. I do support my family financially, and I support others in a mature and professional manner. Although action-wise, I do represent maturity, I do believe that I am closer to being a “youngster” behavior-wise. I take life as a complete joke most of the time, because I’m so close to being an actual adult and start taking life seriously. I’m too close to adulting and to be honest, it’s actually really scary.
ReplyDeleteI think that I am an adult, but still inexperienced as I am still in high school. I believe that maturity isn’t something that is reached through a certain age. I believe being mature is a state of mind. Anyone can be mature and act as an “adult” would. I think to be mature means that you can act and think with a serious mindset. It doesn’t mean you can’t have fun or screw around sometimes, but you know when you should be serious and when you shouldn’t. Being mature means that you are able to recognize what is registered by society as beneficial and harmful. What should be done and what shouldn’t be done. You’re able to stay out of trouble because you know what actions will cause you to get in trouble and what won’t. Being an adult is a certain point in age that is eighteen or over. I am officially an adult, but still lack the experience of most adults.

In terms of age I would be considered a young adult and I agree with that but being a mature adult or not is an entirely different thing. I would like to say I am mature in the fact I try to act with reason rather than feeling. Though I would also say that the reasons I uses are not solely based on fact. I believe I still have a lot to learn about the society I live in and I am sheltered to the outside world. For these reasons I would be led to believe that I am still yet to be a mature young adult but still on the road to achieving it.

Yes i would consider my self a young adult, i'm 17 have my own car that i pay for, paying for my own phone. i'm not quite a adult yet but i consider my self almost there to be in the adult world. a mature adult acts their own age and paying your own bills if you have any. helps people when people need help. I would consider my self mature for my age.
ReplyDeleteI feel like we are still kids. We still depend on our parents a lot and for many even through college. this isn't necessarily a bad thing. A lot of us work and pay for our own things but we still aren't mature in some ways. I feel like we still have a long way to go until we are adults. I think being a mature adult means paying your own bills, living on your own, and acting mature. Just being 18 does not make you an adult. There are plenty of 18 year old's that don't act like an adult and there are plenty that do.
ReplyDeleteI would not say that I’m an adult. I say this because I still have a lot of growing up to do, and I’m not even 18 yet. I have to get a lot more mature before I can be considered an adult because I’m still a kid. To me a “mature adult” is someone who acts the way they’re expected too, they can support themselves and their family if they have one, and they’re always respectful no matter what’s going on. I’d say I’m pretty far away from those things because I’m only 17 and as I get older I’ll become more mature and do the things “mature adults” do.

I would say that right now I am considered a young adult because of my age ,but to me I am not an adult yet. I say this because there are still so many things I must learn yet. Sure I am 17, and I know a few things, but there is so much more that I must be taught in order to be successful when I am older. Being an adult means that you are mature, that you know how to make the right decisions that will greatly affect your life. I believe that I am almost to the stage of being considered an young adult.
ReplyDeleteI am an adult. I am 18 years old and I'm ready to be treated like an adult. I'm also a a hard worker who like to play sports. I'm responsible and independent. I know a few thing about life because i iv'e been independent for a long time. I'm looking forward to college and get a good job. I am considered a young adult.
ReplyDeleteI would consider myself as a young adult. Mainly because I’m still greatly supported and dependent on my parents from a financial standpoint. I do pay for most things besides some necessities. Between being a youngster or an adult, I would say that I’m much closer to being an adult. To me, a mature adult would be someone who is completely independent and doesn’t have any real outside support like a parent paying for things. I would like to think that I am somewhat close to being an adult, but it will for sure be another few years before that’ll be true.
ReplyDeleteI believe I am very mature for my age, and have been for a long time. I believe I am finally becoming more comfortable with who I am and who I am going to be, but it is still a long process. I know society may class me as a young adult, and in some aspects this is true, but I think I am on the cusp of full adulthood as I am working a lot more than most people would ever want to now, with much less free-time than I used to allow myself to. - Joey Shannon
ReplyDeleteI believe I am closer to a mature adult than a youngster. I financially support myself in most aspects besides the mortgage on our house. I have paid for my own car, as well as clothes, and sometimes groceries. Age doesn’t have a say on your mental maturity. A large part depends upon your experiences and hardships you have had to get through to be who you are now. It also comes with having a sense of responsibility in your life as well as a purpose. For these reasons I believe I am close to becoming a mature adult, but still have much to improve upon and learn about as I continue to age. This is why I try my best to continue learning and understanding more about my environment and the society around me to try and be a more productive and mature citizen.
ReplyDeleteI am not really sure I know I am a lot more mature this year than I have ever been but there are still some responsibilities I have yet to take on such as getting a job but I think regardless I think I will become a adult next year if I am not one now I think in a lot of ways life doesn't give a choice you have to become a adult because the world requires it of you, you have to pay bills and taxes and you have to take of yourself mentally and physically the only other alternative is to be a parasite and use your parents and i'm not willing to do that and when it comes to what makes someone a mature adult I'm not sure on that one either the law says you have to be 18 and society says you need to live on your own and have a job but those things are so superficial so there has to be more to it but i'm not really sure
ReplyDeleteI would consider myself as a young adult because I have jobs but i still depend on my parents for food and a place to sleep. I pay for most of my of stuff like my car and have to make payments on it so i need to watch how i spend my money.
ReplyDeleteI think being called “Young Adults” is true for most people because some of us already know what we want to do in life. Some people haven’t made up their mind what they want to achieve in life and what they want to do. We are young adults because we make adult mistakes that could hurt our future. I would consider myself as a young adult because I have made up my mind on what I want to do in my life. Mature adult is from 21 to 30 because you are out of the stage of partying and having fun on the weekends and getting into some trouble. I have some years to go until I am a Mature adult. Michael Droeszler
ReplyDeleteYes, I would define myself as a young adult not just because of my age and what society classifies a person as a young adult. I define myself as a young adult because I live my life the way I want to live my life. I have been working since 5th grade for my dad and got a second job in 7th grade to work at during the school year. I have held the same jobs my whole life and have moved up in both companies. I have taxes that are taken out of my checks every week and I bought my own truck. I choose the way I want to live and hangout with and what I want to do when I grow up.

Who am I? I think that I am a young adult, but I can be a kid sometimes. I say I am a young adult because I am over the age of 10 and I am a teenager and work to earn money for myself. I also own 4 tractors of my own and can drive. I also say I am a kid because sometimes I act like one and can do some dumb things like a kid. To me a youngster is someone that is under the age of 10 or is still learning the basics of life. For these reasons is why I consider myself a young adult. Charles Bruns

ReplyDeleteI would agree with other people that classify me as a young adult. I would classify being a mature adult as somebody who is in there 30s and on the right track to success. A person who has a house, car, insurance, etc. Somebody who has their life figured out and stable. Somebody who can trouble shoot their own problems and be able to troubleshoot when needed. I would consider myself as a young adult because I am just getting started to go off on my own. I am working and starting to pay for my own things. My parents are just slowing letting me go off on my own and taking responsibility into my own hands. Which is good considering I am going to be off on my own in 8 months or so at college. They’re prepare me for the biggest challenge and change I will face in my life. I would classify freshman and sophomores as youngsters due to the fact they’re still uneducated about the real world. Seniors and juniors have encountered more real-life problems and taken classes to learn about the world.-Colby Holmes
I am currently 18 years old; society would call me an adult, but I am more of a youngster. I say that I am a youngster because my parents still take care of me, put food on the table, and pay all the taxes. A true adult would do all of these and since I am only 18 I do none of these so I would say I am a youngster until the age of 26, when I am off my parents insurance, pay my own bills, and finally living on my own. An adult has a ton of responsibility, and I don’t think I am at that level yet. In eight years, I truly believe that I will be able to take care of myself.

Society defines you all as "Young Adults." Is that true? Are you really almost an adult, or are you closer to being a "youngster?" Define what you think it means to be a "mature adult" and discuss how close, or far, you are from reaching that stage of life.
ReplyDeleteI believe Society does refer my age group as “young adults” as I would not have the full capacity of being classified as an adult. Being an adult would mean I would make good decisions as to jobs, paying bills on time and working every day. Currently in my life, I do have a part-time job, but I do not have bills to pay. Even though I do not go to parties, drink, skip school or take part in bad decisions, I know that I am close to being an adult with my actions, but I am not ready to live on my own due to I’ll be attending NICC the Fall of 2020.
I personally think I am a young adult. I am a young adult because I have had experience with having a full time job over the summer. I also think I am mature enough to take on the adult life. I also buy things from my own money and things like that. I also make my own decisions in life for example with my future job that i want I chose that by mu self and my parents didn't help me. I think society is right about how they classify us as young adults.
ReplyDeleteI'm considered as a young adult because over the summer i worked with one of my good friends. I used to help my parents pay rent for my house. My parents still serve me food and take care of me but I'm mature enough to make a change in my life and ready to work a full time job or even a part time job. I'm ready to take on the adult life.
ReplyDeleteI believe i'm considered as a young adult because i work for my money and i buy my own things and pay for my own car. I have worked many jobs and have had a lot of experiences with different jobs. I have not done a lot of different jobs because i got fired but because it didn't work with school hours or the distance. Plus i think it is great to explore different jobs and have different experiences when young if you don't know at all what you want to do. i do a lot of things an adult does and i am ready to do things adults do i'm ready to move out and be on my own. I'm very mature because I've been through a lot of obstacles and challenges most people my age have not gone through. Don't get me wrong though i'm still a child at heart i went trick or treating for my last year as a non adult but i did it mostly to spend time with my family like an adult would.

I believe that us ,seniors, are at the stage in our life where we are being considered "young adults", I agree with this because we are almost 18 and some of us already know what we are doing after high school. I would say that is a very mature decision to have made as a senior in high school . But also, we are also becoming independent and this also entitles being a “young adult”. Lastly some of us or all of us have a job and have our own source of money that’s also a mature decision. So yeah, I say we are there, and I’m okay with being called a “young adult".

ReplyDeleteI feel like I am closer to being a “youngster” then an adult because I am still in high school and live with my parents. To be a mature adult, you must live in your own house, have a wife, make money, and pay taxes, and I am close to being and adult, but it will be a while until I am a mature adult.
I would describe myself as a mature adult because I do what I have to do to get things done. I also have the bill an adult would have and I pay for all my stuff on my own. I have my own business and know what im going to do in life.

I believe we are still youngsters. I would consider us mature adults once we are living on our own and have to pay for everything while having a job. Right now, I pay for some things like my gas and food when i go out to eat, etc. But not to the extent of what my parents have to pay for. I also feel like I'm still a youngster because that is all I've been my whole life. I am used to being a kid and don't think I'm grown up yet. I don't know what it feels like to be an adult yet but hopefully within the next 5ish years I will know.
ReplyDeleteI believe that I am a young adult because I pay for a lot of my own things. I am 17 and I bought my own car and I pay for all my gas, if I need lunch or groceries, I must go buy them myself. I believe that all 17-year old’s are young adults because most of us pay for our own things and have jobs.
